Welcome to my web page. I hope you find it interesting and stimulating. The content is based on my journey through life and the internet. It reflects my thought developed over many, many years as I sought answers to various questions I saw as vital. If this site entertains you a little or even plays some small part in the further development of your thought and philosophy then it has achieved more than I hoped for. And as the web page develops you will see the extent to which my friends and me believe in the power of thought, in forging our own sense of self and our existence. Even if you do not have enough time you should follow Horace Mann's advice: "Resolve to edge in a little reading every day, if it is but a single sentence. If you gain fifteen minutes a day, it will make itself felt at the end of the year." Johann Wolfgang von Goethe phrased it in following words: "One ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and if it were possible, to speak a few reasonable words." Don't hesitate to look up some poems, songs, jokes, quotes or movie lines on this web page. This will influence the "best of lists" automatically.
This web page is my attempt to recreate the "good old days" when some friends met to drink beer, a glas of wine or even Whisky, and talk - sometimes exchanging real deep thoughts. Developing this web page I aim to assume no knowledge, and believe that even the most withered old philosopher will find it very entertaining and thought-provoking, if not actually, well, funny and informative. While browsing this web page you will find parts of it where you can leave a comment. You may just give me a note also. Feel free to do so! If you are lucky you will get an invitation to join me on this web page.
More than at any time in human history, we are one world. Finding the means, the legal and political structures, to adequately and democratically address global problems, is one of the greatest political challenges of our time. World Federalists are committed to overcoming the division of our world among competing states, interests and sovereignties. We understand and uphold the oneness of humanity. And we recognize the many technological, social and political forces that are stitching together tomorrow’s global community. World Federalists are organized worldwide as a non-profit citizens movement dedicated to advocating the application of the principles of democratic federalism to world affairs. The World Federalist Movement (WFM) is a global citizens movement with member and associate organizations around the world. The WFM International Secretariat is based in New York City across from the United Nations headquarters. Founded in 1947 in Montreux, Switzerland, the WFM brings together organizations and individuals which support the establishment of a global federal system of strengthened and democratized global institutions with plenary constitutional power accountable to the citizens of the world and a division of international authority among separate global agencies. The Union of European Federalists (UEF) is a non-governmental European organization, campaigning for a federal Europe. It consists of 20 constituent organizations and it has been active at the European, national and local levels for more than 50 years. It was founded 1946 with the belief that only a European Federation, based on the idea of unity in diversity, could overcome the division of the European continent that had caused the suffering and destruction of the two World Wars. The Europa-Union Deutschland e.V. is one of the UEF organizations on the national level. And the Europa-Union Heilbronn e.V. is the local level organization I take responsibility for.
