Welcome to my web page. I hope you find it interesting and stimulating. The content is based on my journey through life and the internet. It reflects my thought developed over many, many years as I sought answers to various questions I saw as vital. If this site entertains you a little or even plays some small part in the further development of your thought and philosophy then it has achieved more than I hoped for. And as the web page develops you will see the extent to which my friends and me believe in the power of thought, in forging our own sense of self and our existence. Even if you do not have enough time you should follow Horace Mann's advice: "Resolve to edge in a little reading every day, if it is but a single sentence. If you gain fifteen minutes a day, it will make itself felt at the end of the year."
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe phrased it in following words: "One ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and if it were possible, to speak a few reasonable words." hint: look up some poems, songs, jokes, quotes or movie lines on this web page. This will influence the "best of lists" automatically.
What exactly is this web page about? Philosophy and other topics about life. The format is sort of an informal roundtable discussion, with each topic loosely focused on a short statement that introduces it. What are you trying to do here? This web page is our attempt to recreate the "good old days" when some friends met to drink beer, a glas of wine or even Whisky, and talk - sometimes exchanging real deep thoughts. Here we are saving it to share our thoughts and findings with all who care to listen. Who is this aimed at? Do I have to know anything about real life or you guys? We aim to assume no knowledge, and we believe that even the most withered old philosopher will find the proceedings very entertaining and thought-provoking, if not actually, well, funny and informative. Do I have to do some reading before joining the discussions? If we don’t assume you know anything about philosophy, we certainly don’t assume you know anything about the posts and texts we are discussing. But we believe that reading the texts and posts before participating will make the follow-on discussions more entertaining and informative. Also, they happen to be interesting, intellectually stimulating, fun and to become really important parts of your already existing life. How am I be able to join the discussions? While browsing this web page you will find parts of it where you can leave a comment or even a note. Feel free to do so! If you are lucky you will get an invitation to join us on this web page by one of its members.

The WFM International Secretariat is based in New York City across from the United Nations headquarters. Founded in 1947 in Montreux, Switzerland, the WFM brings together organizations and individuals which support the establishment of a global federal system of strengthened and democratized global institutions with plenary constitutional power accountable to the citizens of the world and a division of international authority among separate global agencies. The Union of European Federalists (UEF) is a non-governmental European organization, campaigning for a federal Europe. It consists of 20 constituent organizations and it has been active at the European, national and local levels for more than 50 years. It was founded 1946 with the belief that only a European Federation, based on the idea of unity in diversity, could overcome the division of the European continent that had caused the suffering and destruction of the two World Wars. The Europa-Union Deutschland e.V. is one of the UEF organizations on the national level. And the Europa-Union Heilbronn e.V. is the local level organization I take responsibility for. |
